The Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe held its annual Great Car Raffle on Wednesday at Lakeland Village.

The sale of $50 tickets raised more than $40,000 to donate back to the community.

The winner of the car was Karen Goldberg. She is the co-founder of The Bridge Language Academy, adjunct Spanish teacher at LTCC, and amazing parent volunteer at her children’s school, Karen is an active and amazing member of the community. She has already proclaimed her winnings will be used for children’s college fund.

Of the 25 finalists, whose tickets were drawn the week before by Father Grace of St. Theresa’s Church, Goldberg was the first one drawn. This past Wednesday evening she was the first finalist to try her key and it opened the door.

In the past years, the funds raised have went to South Lake Tahoe High School scholarships, upgrades at Sawmill Pond, Tahoe Arts Project, Bijou Community School’s Two Way Immersion Program and Field of Dreams, STHS Grad Night, B.A.T.S., field trips for all four elementary schools, and many more.
