Golf club tourny celebrates 4th of July
The Genoa Lakes Ladies Golf Club feted Independence Day with a “Pars and Stripes” member/guest tournament. Members decorated golf carts in patriotic glitter and regalia and participants dressed to celebrate the red, white and blue. A “Best Ball” format encouraged competitive golf play, which was followed by luncheon and awards in the banquet room of The Supper Club at Genoa Lakes. Decor, menu and awards reflected a festive Fourth of July picnic atmosphere.
Low gross awards and scores were as follows: Member Janet Petrosky and her guest Elaine Easterling, 73; K.K. Burlison and Joanne Oberly, second with a 77; Martha Barneson and Suzanne Lundahl, third with 77; Jan Wallace and Helen Dizio, fourth with 80; and Nancy McDermid and Margit Deuerling, fifth with 83. Low net scores included member Laura Amaral and guest Stacey Bayley, 55; Martha Cornforth and Jennifer Berry, second with 57; Louise Bell and Shirley Navone, third with 59; Darlene Tiffany and Linda Reynolds, fourth with 59; and Judy McLennan and Sharon Kain, fifth with 59.
Longest drive award was achieved by guest Helen Dizio and closest to the pin honors went to guest Nancy Jackson, No. 6; member Jackie Schimmel, No. 8; member Maggie Benz, No. 12; and guest Suzanne Lundahl, No. 14.
Appearing as “Uncle Sam,” Martha Barneson won the best costume vote and best decorated cart honors went to Raymi Vontz and Sharon Cook. A special consolation award was given to Lorraine Dix and guest Joel Ierien.
