Good grades earn students free Sierra ski pass

Staff report

Good grades pay off in more ways than one. Not only can straight As get you into a good university, but they can provide free skiing and snowboarding for the season.

Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort will make 372 season passes available to local students with two consecutive semesters of straight A’s within the school last year, officials announced today.

“Good grades show that students have a good work ethic. Sierra Resort wants local families to know that we value the hard work it takes to get those grades,” said John Rice, general manager of Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort. “The Straight A program is just one of Sierra Resort’s many community outreach programs. We support many local athletic teams, we felt it was a natural next step to support academic excellence as well.”

In time for the 2007-2008 winter season, Sierra Resort contacted more than 370 students from 10 local schools plus a local home schooling group. The students are offered a Sierra Resort Unlimited pass which is good any day of the winter season.

Sierra Resort encourages all recipients of a Straight A pass to pick up their pass at the season pass office which is open daily from 8 a.m. a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
