A Canadian musician who helped define folk-pop in the 1960s and ’70s comes to the South Shore this weekend.

Gordon Lightfoot has recorded 20 albums and earned five Grammy nominations during a distinguished musical career. He takes the stage in the Harrah’s Lake Tahoe South Shore Room Saturday night.

Lightfoot’s hits have reached number one five times, number 10 five times and the Top 40 13 times. His songs include “For Lovin’ Me,” “Early Morning Rain,” “Steel Rail Blues,” “Ribbon of Darkness,” “Black Day in July,” “(Remember Me) I’m the One,” “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Sundown,” “Carefree Highway,” “Rainy Day People” and “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”



Lightfoot has also had his songs covered by everyone from Bob Dylan to Jane’s Addiction to Barbara Streisand and has been recognized in both the U.S. and Canada for his songwriting abilities, including a June 2012 induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Harrah’s is located at 15 U.S. Highway 50 in Stateline.
