Grant program underway

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe has begun its fifth year of the Community Service Grant program. Last year, the club disbursed more than $47,000 in funds to 25 different community groups. This year, applications will be accepted through Sept. 28. The club encourages community organizations and groups to submit creative grant proposals that will create a lasting impact on the community.

Most noted for the annual food and wine tasting, “The Best of Tahoe,” Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe has become increasingly effective in raising funds and creatively distributing these funds to various organizations and individuals in the community as well as donating time and effort toward these projects.

The purpose of the Community Service Grant program is to provide the club with a better method to evaluate funding requests and to better meet the needs of the community. By receiving and reviewing applications during one time period a year all applications will compete on an equal basis.

To receive a Community Service Grant application packet contact Earlene Miller, chair of the allocation committee, at (775) 588-3933 or (530) 544-2111.
