Graphic novelist to appear at Bona Fide Books

Provided to the Tribune

Bona Fide Books will host a reception for graphic novelist and artist Jared Manninen and his collection “Based on a Dream” at Bona Fide HQ in Meyers on Aug. 1.

Manninen lives in South Lake Tahoe, the beauty of which influences his work both in graphic novels and on canvas, according to a press release from Bona Fide Books. He began his art career in 1997 by painting with oils on canvas. Since then, he’s worked with other two-dimensional media such as pastels, watercolors and acrylics. Manninen recently collaborated with Bona Fide Books to create a zine for the Meyers Community Project.

Manninen will be on site from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. A zine workshop will also be offered at the reception.

The collection will be on display at Bona Fide Books through the month of August. Bona Fide HQ is located at 1069 Magua Street, No. 4, behind the Getaway Cafe in Meyers.
