Gun-wielding man holds up gas station
December 2, 2003
A man armed with a black handgun and black ski mask over his face took money from the American Oil Gas Station at 1140 Emerald Bay Road.
No one was injured during the Monday robbery reported at 7:23 p.m. The man took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing toward the rear of the gas station, said South Lake Tahoe police Sgt. Alex Schumacher.
The suspect and crime resembled a Nov. 26 robbery when a man with a black ski mask took money from the Swiss Mart Food and Gas at 913 Emerald Bay Road, Schumacher said. The Swiss Mart was hit at 6 p.m. The man, wearing all black, displayed a gun, got money, and walked away in the direction of 5th Street.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall, white male, with a slim build. During the American Oil Gas Station robbery, he wore a black nylon corduroy jacket.
In both cases the clerks have complied with the demands.
“Nobody should put themselves in harm’s way for money,” Schumacher said.

The description of the suspect is different than that of a string of armed robberies in early November. The Road Runner Gas & Liquor in Meyers, Subway sandwich shop and Swiss Mart were targets. The suspects in those robberies were described as about 5-feet, 7-inches tall.
