Halloween effort nets $400

Krisha Penollar

Dan Thrift / Tahoe Daily Tribune/ South Tahoe Middle School Club Live members will collect donations through today for UNICEF to benefit families of Hurricane Katrina.

South Tahoe Middle School Club Live participated in the annual “Trick or Treat” for UNICEF collections and so far has raised more than $400.

In the past, the annual UNICEF collections have funded programs involving clean water, health, nutrition and education in third world countries.

This year UNICEF has decided that half of all funds received will be used to help emergency relief efforts to families of Hurricane Katrina.

Club Live helped UNICEF by collecting money at various locations and going door-to-door. They will accept donations through Nov. 4.

Anyone wanting to make donations may make checks out to UNICEF.

No donations are too small for helping out UNICEF with Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath.
