Halloween, Freakers Ball fall on a Friday
October 9, 2008
Sure, the freaks come out at night. But once a year at South Lake Tahoe, locals, visitors and generations of partiers come out to MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa for the Freaker’s Ball on Halloween, Oct. 31.
Now in its 30th year, the event has a reputation of a devilishly good time. The Freakers Ball is three parties for the price of one which invades MontBleu’s convention center and two nightclubs, Opal Ultra Lounge and Blu. Throughout the three venues of debauchery, body painting, go-go dancers, drink specials and more than $10,000 in costume prizes there will be awarded for several different categories.
Live music by Bay Area party band The Cheeseballs will headline the event inside the convention center, revisiting funky jams from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s and keeping people dancing through the wee hours of the morning. Live DJs will also grace the scene inside Blu and Opal. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance through MontBleu at (800) 648-3353 or http://www.ticketmaster.com.
“With 30 years of history, this party keeps getting bigger and better,” said Mike Donovan, MontBleu’s marketing manager.
“More than 1,500 people showed up last year, and with Halloween being on a Friday, we’ve added more entertainment and expect a bigger and wilder turn out.”
