Hannah Daly to miss the rest of the season for UNC
October 7, 2011
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After having one of her best performances as a Tar Heel, Junior goalkeeper Hannah Daly will miss the rest of the soccer season for the University of North Carolina after undergoing surgery on Sept. 8.
Daly recorded a career high seven saves in Carolina’s 2-1 victory over top ranked Notre Dame on Aug. 26. That total exceeded by two her previous career high of five which came at Nebraska on Aug. 19, 2011. Daly exceeded her previous career high in the first half alone as she saved six Notre Dame shots in the opening 45 minutes. Six of Notre Dame’s seven first-half shots were on goal. Daly surrendered a goal in the 71st minute that allowed Notre Dame to tie the game at 1-1 but her seventh and final save with 4:02 to go in regulation proved to be her most amazing stop of the night as she dove to her left to stop what appeared to be a sure goal by Adriana Leon of the Irish.
She will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after being injured in the Notre Dame game, but will be eligible for a red-shirt campaign. She will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
