Happy birthday, Bill Morris

Longtime local resident, Bill Morris, is celebrating his 87th birthday this Sunday, Oct. 21. Born in Porterville, Calif. in 1914, he was in the US Marine Corps as a platoon sergeant during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater and took part in four major campaigns with the 2nd Marine Division.

Mr. Morris moved to Lake Tahoe in 1952 and worked at Harrah’s and Zephyr Cove as a security guard and was a bodyguard to many entertainers. Later he worked at Harrah’s as a dealer and was employed by the Post Office on Park Ave. in the 60’s.

Bill, his wife and four children, two boys and two girls, lived in a 3 bedroom log cabin in the historic Old Al Tahoe region of the south shore. His children, Stephen, Wayne, Linda and Maureen, attended high school at the current middle school location. Mr. and Mrs. Morris now have 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

It would be impossible for all Morris’s relatives and friends to gather in a single place for a party. So best wishes for a happy birthday will be coming to him on Sunday the 21st from all around the country. Happy Birthday to long time resident of South Lake Tahoe, Bill Morris.
