Harrah’s holding battle for the best ‘Rock Band’
When the B-52s wrote “Party Gone Out Of Bounds” all those years ago, they never could have imagined this.
The winners of an international music video “Rock Band” contest will be the opening act for a B-52s concert May 9 at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, N.J.
For consecutive Fridays beginning March 27, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe will join the 17 other Total Rewards properties in the United States and Canada in launching their own leg of Harrah’s and MTV Games’ Total Rock, Total Rewards “Rock Band” Competition.
The competitions will be at the Center Stage from 8-11 p.m. Arty “The Party” Hervey will host the shows.
The winner of the Harrah’s competition will have the opportunity to participate in the Atlantic City regional competition May 7.
The “Rock Band” competitions will be March 27, and April 3, 10 and 17. Bands can register at http://www.harrahs.com/rockband.
Each band must have four players: singer, guitar, bass and drums. Entrants are limited to one performance.
“Rock Band” fans have also taken to Twitter to tweet about the minute-to-minute drama and fun surrounding the local competitions. By using the hashtag “#TotalRock” with every tweet and posted picture, fans and the participating bands can contribute and stay up to date on the latest discussions and breaking news about the Total Rock, Total Rewards “Rock Band” Competition.
Total Rewards cardholders 21 and older may enter the competition by getting a band together, registering online or at the casino, selecting a song from the list provided on the Web site, choosing an instrument, and taking the stage. To sign up for a free Total Rewards card, customers can sign up at any Harrah’s Entertainment casino.
The winning band from each of the local Total Rewards locations will rock its way a little closer to Rock Band stardom at celebrity-judged regional competitions in Las Vegas (April 16), Chicago Area (April 24), New Orleans (April 30) and Atlantic City (May 7).
The four winning bands, one from each regional competition, then will have a chance to enter to compete for the championship title May 8 in Atlantic City. The ultimate winning band will open for the B-52s. The second- through fourth-place winners will also win cash prizes, making this the richest “Rock Band” competition in history.
