Harrah’s hosts blood drive

Harrah’s Tahoe will sponsor its Spring Blood Drive from 8 a.m. too 4 p.m. April 24 at Harrah’s Tahoe Special Events Center.

With the current national trend of fewer and fewer people donating blood, United Blood Services is trying to avoid an emergency blood alert. Supply levels are dangerously low and may result in the postponement of non-life threatening surgeries and other medical procedures dependent on blood and blood products. United Blood Services, Inc., in Reno is currently extremely low on all blood types, especially O+ and O- blood types. Everyone who is 17 years or older and weighs at least 110 pounds is eligible to donate. The donation takes approximately one hour. Donors must bring a form of ID.

As a nonprofit organization, United Blood Services is consistently striving to be cost effective. Donors will help ensure that there will be an adequate number of staff and sufficient equipment needed to accommodate everyone.

For information regarding ability to donate due to a medication, foreign travel or a medical condition call 1-800-696-4484.
