Harveys employees join with the United Way

The employees of Harveys Resort & Casino were recently honored for their community spirit and commitment to the United Way. The resort casino received the John “Snowshoe” Thompson Community Spirit Award, which recognizes Lake Tahoe area organizations for their overall excellent in employee education, corporate support, management involvement and volunteer programs.

The United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra recognized Harveys fund-raising efforts during the annual United Way campaign and an employee talent show, which provided a total of $47,000.

Ingrid Wetzell, director of human resources, and Sandy Steward, United Way campaign chair, accepted the award on behalf of Harveys at the Feb. 13 presentation at Boomtown in Reno, Nev.
