Hazmat drill June 28

The South Lake Tahoe Fire Department will host a drill simulating a hazardous materials spill from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 28 at El Dorado Beach, according to a statement from Division Chief Marty Scheuerman.

The drill will prepare South Shore agencies for a coordinated response to an actual spill of hazardous materials, Scheuerman said.

Private cleanup companies, Lake Valley Fire Protection District, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Barton Memorial Hospital, CalFire, El Dorado County’s Environmental Management Department and South Lake Tahoe police have been invited to participate in the drill, Scheuerman said.
