Hearing continued in shooting incident

The preliminary hearing for Donald Ray Lawson has been continued. The hearing was originally set for today. A new date has not yet been set.

Lawson is accused of shooting James McGeehan seven times in front of the McGeehan’s Kingsbury Grade home Feb. 6. The incident was allegedly the result of a road rage incident that occurred on Super Bowl Sunday.

Lawson is being charged with attempted murder with the use of a firearm and seven counts of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.

McGeehan is listed in fair condition at Washoe Medical Center. Sources close to McGeehan said he is doing better.

“He’s doing well,” said friend Brian Dennehy. “He’s been talking all this week. He is coherent and he’s sharp. Everyone is definitely happy he is doing better. He’s still got some surgery to go. They haven’t mentioned anything about him getting out yet.”
