Hearing delayed two weeks

A 42-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting young girl had his preliminary hearing pushed back Thursday so a defense lawyer has time to review videotapes made by police.

Michael Timothy Meador, a former employee at Horizon Casino Resort and a South Shore resident, is charged with two felonies related to sexual acts with a girl younger than 14. If convicted of both felonies, he could be sentenced to 16 years in prison.

The alleged assault took place in Meador’s home during the early morning hours of March 31.

Meador’s daughters, age 12 and 13, invited the young girl to spend a night at their house. The girl was assaulted after Meador entered a room where the group was sleeping, police said.

The girl told her parents she was assaulted the day following the alleged incident.

Meador is expected to appear May 3 in El Dorado County Superior Court for a preliminary hearing.
