The Far West Freestylers met on Squaw Valley’s Red Dog moguls this past weekend in honor of Randy Davis, who was a member of the Squaw Valley Freestyle team.

Davis, who was killed in an avalanche, was an awesome kid who had an infectious enthusiasm and love for the sport, said Heavenly Foundation coach Jere Crawford.

The Heavenly team had a great showing, led by Taryn Baker.

“Taryn Baker just keeps getting better,” Crawford said.

Baker won all three women’s events with great turns and air. She has now won every Far West event she’s entered this season, including every duals run, which is no easy task. Twelve-year-old phenom Gabriella Fisher placed third, fourth and fifth overall against much older competition. She took two J-4 wins with technical turns and big jumps.

Teammate Mia Idzorek showed off improved turns and jumps to get a J-4 silver and bronze. Ally Sullivan shredded a great run for a J-4 silver. “Gnarly” Karli Anderson ripped the course for a J-5 silver.

The boys were no slouches as Zach Shearer and Shanti Payne squared off in the duals final with loops and back flips, with Payne getting the win. Payne also had two overall seconds in the singles. Zach’s second-place overall was his best placing ever and he added two J-3 wins in singles.

Yamato Kashima put on a show with his giant airs to get an overall third and fourth. Dean Ambrosi made 360’s look easy both days. Joshua Sullivan put on a display with sweet turns and big jumps. Range Chapman busted out his new double daffy to get two J-4 thirds, and Mathew Sullivan went big on his airs and ripped tight turns.
