Heavenly freestylers skiers held it down on their home turf Saturday and Sunday at the Eric Nageotte-Lowe Memorial mogul event.

The course ripped down Heavenly’s Waterfall run with huge jumps and firm moguls. Eric Nageotte-Lowe was a member the Heavenly Foundation Ski Team who was killed in a training accident.

“He was an inspiration with his maturity, compassion, sense of team and passion for skiing and life,” Heavenly coach Jere Crawford said.

Heavenly’s Shanti Payne put down his first overall singles win an Saturday, and just missed winning Sunday by .02 points.

Yamato Kashima held together a sharp run to take first in the overall singles on Sunday. Kashima also picked up third Saturday.

Taryn Baker, showing no ill effects from a recent shoulder injury, continued her Far West domination with wins in both singles and the duals. She will head to Telluride this weekend to compete in the NorAm tour.

For the girls, Gabriella Fisher 360’d her way to two J-4 wins. Ally Sullivan had two J-4 thirds with vastly improved turns. Mia Idzorek had a J-4 second with turns so tight her feet looked glued together. Karli Anderson got two J-5 wins with big spread eagles and solid turns.

Among the boys, Zach Shearer got a J-3 first and second with his big loops and back flips. Range Chapman continued to show improvement with two J-4 second-place finishes. Joshua Sullivan showed off silky smooth turns and big airs. Dean Ambrosi threw down big 360’s and fast times. Matthew Sullivan gave a clinic in how to ski bumps with tight legs.

“Much credit goes to coach Travis Woodcock’s Herculean efforts building the course,” Crawford said. “Kudos also to guest coaches World Cup Skier Sho Kashima and NorAm skier Jake Hickman.”
