Heavenly looking for new general manager

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Heavenly Mountain Resort’s Blaise Carrig has been promoted within Vail Resorts.

Carrig, who served as the resort’s chief operating officer, will still serve as the co-president of the Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division, and will oversee Heavenly, Keystone and Breckenridge. He will now work from the company’s Broomfield headquarters.

Heavenly will begin to look at internal candidates for the general manager position, said Spokesman Russ Pecoraro. A timeline has not been set, he said.

The other co-president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division, John Garnsey, will also make a similar move from Beaver Creek. Garnsey will remain co-president of the Mountain Division, but he will no longer serve as the chief operating officer.

The change to Carrig’s and Garnsey’s job descriptions was one of several announced by Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz on Thursday.

“These changes will allow some of our key leaders to have greater capacity to participate in our strategic efforts, and will give opportunities for other individuals to take on new and larger roles within the company,” Katz wrote in an e-mail.

No other changes to Vail Resorts will affect Heavenly’s operations, Pecoraro said.

Edward Stoner of the Vail Daily in Vail, Colo. contributed to this report.
