Heavenly’s Anna Park places well at Junior Nationals

STEAMBOAT, Colo. – Five members of the Heavenly Freestyle Team competed in Junior Nationals at Steamboat, Colo., March 5-11.

“Everyone performed amazingly well, especially for how young they are,” Heavenly freestyle coach Jere Crawford said. “Athletes up to 19 were in this event, including several U.S. teamers.”

Anna Park, 14, was a close second in single moguls with a score of 24.83. Taryn Baker, 14, was 17th in singles with a score of 19.13. Park won the duals. According to Crawford, it was a close race but she skied mistake free to take it.

“Her big backflip iron cross was a difference maker,” he said.

Baker made the round of 16 with some of the best turns in the event. Sage Wright, 12, known for skiing fast, turned on the burners and won one dual to make it to the top 32. Zach Shearer, 14, combined his loop, backflip, and great turns to make the top 32. Eleven-year-old Gabriella Fisher had a fall that cost her in her first dual, “but turned a lot of heads with beautiful skiing in the rest of her run,” Crawford said.
