Heller to serve as chairman of Tahoe Regional Planning Agency

Nevada Secretary of State Dean Heller will serve the next term as chairman of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s 14-voting-member board.

In January, Heller will replace Larry Sevison, the board’s Placer County appointee.

A TRPA spokeswoman said the chairman job is important because it requires setting the tone of the meeting.

“The chairman presides over the meeting; they determine the pace and set the agenda,” she said. “And we try to have Nevada and California represented in the chair and vice chair positions.”

Dave Solaro, El Dorado County representative, will take Douglas County appointee Don Miner’s position as vice-chair.

Heller, a 6-year veteran boardmember, and Solaro, who has served two years, will hold their posts for two years, when the board is required to nominate new chairs.
