Heroin plea gets man six months in jail

A South Lake Tahoe man has been sentenced to six months in El Dorado County Jail after pleading no contest to possession of heroin for sale, according court records.

Alberto Vierboom will also be required to serve 18 months of mandatory community supervision in connection with a 2011 drug bust, according to a Friday sentence given by El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Steven Bailey.

South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team members arrested Vierboom May 11, 2011, after serving a search warrant at a home on the 3100 block of Fresno Avenue.

SLEDNET team members discovered 73.3 grams of heroin worth about $11,000 in the residence. The weight equals about 2,300 individuals hits, said SLEDNET Task Force Commander Jeff Catchings at the time.

Vierboom was remanded into custody Monday, according to El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office records. He will receive 36 days of credit for time already served in jail, as well as 36 days of credit for good behavior.

Heidi Kanes, 31, was also arrested during the May 2011 raid. She was arrested on suspicion of maintaining a location for unlawful activities. Kanes died of natural causes in February, according to county coroner records.
