A member of revered Oakland, California, hip-hop groups Hieroglyphics and Souls of Mischief headlines a show at Lake Tahoe’s South Shore this week. A-Plus performs with JD Mathieu, Equipto Ilyich Sato and Otayo Dubb Friday, Nov. 20, at Whiskey Dick’s Saloon as part of the Hippy Mobb Harvest Tour.

“Since the late 1980s (A-Plus) has produced music for Hieroglyphics as a group and a musical collective, responsible for some of Hieroglyphics’ biggest hits and most critically-acclaimed tracks,” according to A-Plus’ online biography. “He has also proven his versatility as a producer with critically acclaimed production credits on the works of artists encompassing many genres of music.”

A-Plus and Mathieu, who is also known as Knobody, will perform their latest album, “Grow Theory,” at the show, which is sponsored by San Francisco-based medical marijuana dispensary Barbary Coast. Equipto and Otayo Dubb will perform songs from their new album, “Baby Steps.”

Hosting the tour is Mike Marshall, who sang the chorus on the Luniz hit “I Got 5 On It” and is a longtime member of the Bay Area R&B scene. DJ True Justice is also set to perform Friday.
