Jim Grant / Tahoe Daily Tribune / Linda Kurek directs at the rehearsal for the South Tahoe High School POPS 2006 concert scheduled June 13 and 14 at the STHS Theater.

The South Tahoe High School Performing Arts Department will present its annual “POPS 2006” productions at 7 p.m. June 13 and 14 in the South Tahoe High Theater.

The Tuesday instrumental concert will feature a fast-paced musical extravaganza performed by the high school’s bands, orchestra, jazz combo and the Blue Ribbon Choir. Music ranging from big band jazz, current movie soundtracks, rock ‘n’ roll standards and other pop songs will be performed. Instrumental music awards will be presented after intermission.

The Wednesday concert will feature the high school’s choirs and vocal soloists. The theme for this concert is music from Broadway shows and movies. Choral awards will be presented during the second half of the evening.

Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $5 for general admission and $3 for seniors and students with ASB cards. Children younger than 12 are free. All proceeds will go toward helping sustain the high school performing arts programs. Both performances usually sell out, so it is suggested that you arrive early. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
