Hight third, Teter fourth in X Games superpipe qualifying

South Lake Tahoe women’s halfpipe riders Elena Hight and Hannah Teter advanced to the finals of the Winter X Games superpipe competition in Aspen, Colo.

Hight finished third in Thursday’s qualifying with a best score of 89.00 and Teter was fourth at 84.33.

Only the top six riders out of 16 advanced to Saturday’s final.

Kelly Clark of Mount Snow, Vt., led qualifying with a score of 96.00, and Gretchen Bleiler of Aspen, Colo., was runner-up at 95.66. The top four qualifiers are 2010 and 2006 Olympians.

Truckee’s Kelly Marren was 16th.

South Lake Tahoe’s Jamie Anderson was on the invited list but did not compete. Australia’s Torah Bright pulled out of the event after suffering a concussion in practice.
