Historian to address Democratic Women

Douglas County Democratic Women will host their first luncheon of the year on Monday at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Guest speaker will be Guy Rocha, who has been the assistant administrator for Archives and Records at the State Library & Archives for 25 years.

Rocha also serves as the coordinator of the State Historical Records advisory board. Common Cause of Nevada awarded him its 1997 “Ethics in Government Award” and in April 2005, U.S. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid appointed him to the advisory committee on the Records of Congress.

In addition, Rocha has published two books, written numerous articles and book reviews as well as written a bi-weekly myth-busting column for the Reno Gazette-Journal.

He has also served as a consultant to numerous TV productions and has produced and directed three historical documentaries for the Nevada State AFL-CIO.

The program begins at 11:30 a.m. in the CVI’s Donegal Room. A buffet lunch will be served at noon at a cost of $15 per person.
