Holiday dance show set
” ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” a special holiday production by Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars of the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, will take place at 2 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Harrah’s Tahoe Special Events Center. The production is based on the classic holiday poem by Clement C. Moore.
“Jingle Bell Rock,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” are some of the holiday songs performed by the dancers, who are 2 to 18 years of age. Excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” include the Sugarplum Fairy, the Snowflakes and the Waltz of the Flowers, presented by the advanced ballet students with Keeley Perreira and Kelsie Stewart featured as soloists. Contemporary, lyrical and tap dances also are included in the show.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Lake Tahoe Collaborative, which serves all the youths in the community.
“Our studio is committed to dance education and the art of dance and is dedicated to community and family. We love the idea of supporting the organizations that reach out and work so hard to help others,” Sarosik said.
Five families from the studio lost their homes in the Angora fire, and other studio families suffered damage to their homes.
Ticket prices are $10 general admission and $5 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, the Boys and Girls Club, Tahoe Youth and Family Services, the Family Resource Center and the Women’s Center, and some may be available at the door. Photos with Santa also will be available. For more information, call (530) 541-7211.
