Holiday decoration donations sought for Angora fire victims

Provided to the Tribune

A holiday faire to benefit victims of the Angora fire will take place Nov. 8 in the South Tahoe Middle multipurpose room. The event is sponsored by El Dorado County School Districts, Lake Tahoe Unified School district, El Dorado Chamber of Commerce and the El Dorado County Office of Education.

The Angora fire was the worst fire in recent history in terms of number of homes lost and families affected. Most homeowner’s insurance will cover the structure and maybe even some contents. But, when thinking about refurnishing one’s home, one doesn’t think about the extras like holiday decorations.

People are encouraged to bring new or gently used holiday decorations to the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Education Center, 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd., by Monday. Items may be left to the attention of Beth Delacour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. These decorations will be distributed between 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 to educators who lost their homes, and from 5 to 7 p.m. to all people who lost their homes and other needy families.

For more information contact Jackie Mintz at (530) 295-2337 or or Beth Delacour at (530) 541-2850, ext. 222.
