SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Police locked down Tahoe Valley Elementary School at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday after arresting a Santa Rosa, Calif. man suspected of homicide.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team served the warrant near Tahoe Island Drive with the assistance of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the Santa Rosa Police Department.

The man did not resist arrest and did not have a weapon, said Lt. David Stevenson, SLTPD spokesman.

The school was closed down because of its proximity and officers were placed at the school as an extra precaution, Stevenson said. The lock down was lifted at 1:45 p.m. after the suspect was taken into custody.

Any further information concerning the investigation is not being released from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department. Inquiries should be made to Sgt. Steve Fraga with the Santa Rosa Police Department (707) 543-3590.
