House sentencing expected

by Gregory Crofton, Tribune staff writer

Andrew House is expected to be sentenced in El Dorado Superior Court today.

House, 18, settled his case by pleading no contest to exhibiting a firearm and intentionally inflicting serious bodily injury to his friend Joshua Parker on Feb. 23.

House accidently shot Parker, 18, in the abdomen. Parker underwent emergency surgery at Barton Memorial Hospital to remove the .38 caliber bullet.

“The maximum sentence he could get is three years in state prison,” said Deputy District Attorney Michael Atwell. “He’ll probably be placed on probation. State prison is out of the question, but jail is a possibility. It depends on the probation report.”

House also faces a fine of $200 to $10,000.
