Housekeeper sentenced to 6 years for rape

William Ferchland

A 25-year-old man was sentenced to six years in prison Monday on one count of forcible rape stemming from a December incident at Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

A restitution hearing for Jesus Carter, whose last known residence was at Woodfords, was scheduled for next week at Alpine County Superior Court. Afterward, he will begin to serve his prison sentence, said Alpine County District Attorney Will Richmond.

Carter was a new hire for the housecleaning crew at the ski resort, which is about a 45-minute drive from South Lake Tahoe. According to Richmond, Carter went to a party at a residence where the 21-year-old was staying and returned through unlocked doors when she was alone and sleeping on Dec. 20.

The female was visiting her brother, an employee at Kirkwood, Richmond said.

Carter pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 31. He is being held at El Dorado County Jail.
