Huge halloween bash in Kings Beach

Rick Chandler

Pull yourself away from your mad experiments in the lab, sharpen your fangs and unwrap your mummy, it’ll soon be time for the Hella-ween Fright Festival and Little Goblins Ball on — when else? — Oct. 31.

The North Tahoe Public Utilities District and Paesano Productions have joined forces to once again bring great music and entertainment to the lake, this time at the North Tahoe Conference Center in King’s Beach on Halloween night from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

“This is our next response to the NTPUD community survey in which people have said they would like to see more live music at the lake,” said Nick Catanella of Paesano Productions. “We partnered with NTPUD for the Lake of the Sky show at North Tahoe Regional Park during the summer, and I guess this is our fall version of that.

“It’s going to be great to have a lot of local bands playing at the same venue. It should be a lot of fun for all ages.”

The night will kick off with the Little Goblins Ball, a free trick or treating party for children and their families, and the young at heart, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be games, a costume contest and live music with the Chad Bowen Project.

Following that will be the Hella-ween Fright Fest, where some of the best live music and DJs in the land will perform on two stages. There will also be an adult costume contest.

Starting things off at 9 p.m. on the Supernatural Stage will be South Lake Tahoe’s own Ten Cent Lure, followed by Mama’s Cookin’ at the Monster Stage at 10 p.m. This band is new to the Tahoe area but emerging on the scene with a sound that could only come from the modern age: Hip-hop beats and conscious lyrics melded with a solid base of rock and delta blues.

Also playing will be South Lake Tahoe laptop rockers Absynth on the Supernatural Stage at 11 p.m., Frame of Mind on the Monster Stage at Midnight.

Plus, the Monster Stage will feature a special live interactive real-time visual experience by Helium Visuals. Local Tahoe brews will be flowing thanks to south Tahoe’s Mt. Tallac Brewing Co.
