Humane Society has open house

The community is invited to an open house at the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12. An agility demonstration will take place at 12:30 p.m. Refreshments, free ID tags and “Keep Tahoe Kind” stickers will be available.

The donation-supported local animal welfare organization is participating in the national 86th annual Be Kind to Animals celebration with the introduction of new events and services. Information will be available on training classes and canine social, which start May 16, canine boarding, a pet loss support group and volunteer orientation meetings.

The 2001-2001 Adopt-A-Teacher sponsor forms will be available as well. This year’s deadline is June 8.



Mobile adoptions start at the South “Y” Center from 5 to 7 p.m. May 11. Located between Kmart and Raley’s, the off site outreach will enable those who cannot get to the shelter to obtain information about the organization, its programs, services and companion animals available for adoption. A second mobile adoption event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 26 at the same location.
