The six-hour outdoor concert event begins at 11 a.m. and features seven bands set to rally behind one common cause: to give aid to the hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents who have lost their homes and their jobs because of the killer storm.

After 5 p.m. the show moves inside for a five-hour concert by the Cash Only Band.

The lineup for the concert includes Cool Black Kettle, with special guest Aaron Hagar, Java Djembe, Mabiba, Raw Nature, Lavish Green, Shameus and Mark and Grace Wilson, as well as the Johnny Cash tribute band, Cash Only.

Howie Nave will serve as emcee with Alexander and Friends from the Fusion Magic Show at the Horizon Casino Resort.

The Boys & Girls Club of South Lake Tahoe will do face painting for children.

Garage sale on Nevada side

“Due to the success of the yard sale we held on Sept. 10 at which $1,600 was raised,” said Kathleen Farrell, executive director of the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce, “we are having another sale this weekend, Sept. 24 and 25, rain or shine.”

“Funds raised at the yard sale will be donated via the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber to the American Red Cross to assist survivors of Hurricane Katrina,” Farrell said.

Donated items for the yard sale can be dropped off at the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber’s office located on U.S. Highway 50 in front of the Round Hill Safeway or at the site of the yard sale, 3071 Sacramento Ave. between San Francisco and Modesto avenues in South Lake Tahoe.

Volunteers are needed Friday afternoon to sort and price the goods.

Volunteers are also needed early Saturday morning to help set up the goods and work the sale.
