Improvement seen at apartment building
Legal action has been stayed against the landlord of the Mosswood Apartments, who has been under fire for months by local agencies because of the condition of his building.
El Dorado County Assistant District Attorney Hans Uthe has retracted an earlier threat to file a civil suit against property owner Tom Lloyd. This comes after a meeting last week by Uthe and Lloyd’s attorney to agree upon a repair deadline.
Lloyd has until Nov. 1 to make about 15 to 20 improvements to satisfy Uthe.
Items include repairing a cracked door frame and a sliding glass door, “none of which would constitute a major construction project,” Uthe said.
“I think we have him in motion, and overall we have his attention,” he said.
“I looked at the list, and all are relatively minor items,” Minden attorney J.D. Sullivan said. He’s confident his client will meet those demands.
“I don’t see any problem,” Sullivan said.
Lloyd won another chance to escape legal action after a recent inspection showed Lloyd had progressed significantly in repairs on the building. Earlier, city and county inspectors had complained that the apartments posed health and safety risks.
