In Virginia City: Historic school damaged in early morning fire

A fire in the basement at the Fourth Ward School in Virginia City was contained this morning thanks to a sprinkler system that was installed during a renovation of the school recently.

The damage was contained to the basement of the 131-year-old building at the south end of Virginia City’s main street. Storey County firefighters responded.
