Carve your pumpkins, grab the kids and dress your best — Revive Coffee & Wine and South Tahoe Standup Paddle are hosting their first-ever Harvest Party on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 3-7 p.m. With games, food, a large SUP sale and a handful of contests, it’s a perfect climate for family-friendly fun this Hallo-weekend.

“This is a great time to reach out to the community. It’s a safe place for kids to celebrate,” Revive owner Robin Bender said.
In addition to providing a spot for families to avoid chaos often associated with the spookiest holiday of the year, Revive and SUP staff wanted to utilize the property’s large front yard. On Saturday, the area will be filled with games, contests and live music from local band Sierra Gypsies, who will come dressed as Star Wars characters.

“We’re trying to make it super fun,” Bender said.

Look forward to a corn hole competition and a ladder rung beanbag game in which participants toss the bags through specific rungs in a ladder. Another game highlight is a holiday-themed ring toss — contestants must toss the ring onto the stem of a pumpkin.

In addition to games, families have the opportunity to participate in a pumpkin carving contest and categorized costume contest.

Pumpkins must be carved before the festival, and should be checked in by 3:30 p.m. After a panel of judges reviews the entries, the winner will be announced at 6 p.m. Participants must not be present to win. There is a $5 fee to enter your creation into the carving contest. The winner receives a surprise award for claiming the title.

Before heading out to the party, choose your outfit wisely — the costume contest is more like multiple contests in one, broken down by category.

“For prizes and awards we have most creative or original, cutest costume, ugliest costume, funniest, most colorful and best of show, which is the grand prize. That person is first over all,” Jared Brackett of South Tahoe Standup Paddle said.

There will also be divisions for adult and child competitors — older than age 12, and 12 and under.

“It’s going to be a really great event,” Bender added.

Revive will also serve special menu items to commemorate the event — smoked hot dogs, tri tip sandwiches, caramel apples, apple cider and sangria to name a few. Select food and drink items will be offered at special prices for the event as well.
Integrity Locksmith and Sprouts Cafe are sponsoring the event with games and additional prizes.

Event attendance is free and open to all ages. Additional information is available on the Revive Coffee & Wine Facebook page.
