Incentives offered for getting a library card

Provided to the Tribune

The South Lake Tahoe Branch Library invites everyone to participate in the “Library Card Sign-Up Month” throughout September.

Everyone is encouraged to check out their local library and get a library card during the month of September, especially children.

In celebration of the “Library Card Sign-Up Month” youths 18 or younger will receive a prize if they either:

1. Go to the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library with a parent or guardian to sign up for a new library card. Please bring proof of your South Lake Tahoe mailing address. New children’s cards will receive a free pizza from Round Table Pizza at the “Y.”

2. Or show their current El Dorado County Library Card to an El Dorado County Library staff member. Children with a current card will receive a special sparkle pencil.

The first 100 adults who sign up for a new card will receive a certificate to either Alpina Café for a free coffee or a half-off coupon to Don’s Bakeshop. Once again, bring proof of your local (South Lake Tahoe) mailing address to sign up for a new card.

Adults who either sign up for a new card or show their current card will be entered into a drawing for a Friends of the Library book bag.

It is our goal at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library to motivate students to be successful in school and get them excited about using the public library. A library card is the “smartest card” they will ever own.

The library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The library is closed Sunday and Monday.

For more information contact the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library at (530) 573-3185.
