Incline Village man indicted for DUI in fatal crash

RENO (AP) – A Lake Tahoe-area man was indicted Wednesday on charges of causing a death while driving drunk and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

The Washoe County Grand Jury returned the indictments of Erik Lawrence Randall, 24, Incline Village, Nev.

Randall is accused of causing the death of Francisco Sanchez, 28, Kings Beach, Calif., in the July 1 crash in Incline Village at the corner of the Mount Rose Highway and Tahoe Boulevard, State Route 28.

If convicted of the DUI charge, Randall would face anywhere from two to 20 years in prison. The leaving-the-scene charge carries a possible prison sentence of two to 15 years.

Deputy District Attorney Roger Whomes said prison is mandatory for the charge of causing a death while driving drunk. Randall would also face anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000 in fines.
