Indoor playground expands to offer afterschool program
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A popular play spot for children just celebrated its 17th anniversary with a ribbon cutting ceremony, reason being, it is now offering afterschool care.
The community has known Tot Spot as an indoor playground for community children and a place especially utilized during the winters when parks are covered in snow.
The afterschool care program is set to take place at the start of the upcoming school year. Spots are available for grades kindergarten through second.
“We really just wanted to serve the community and meet the needs of the community,” Owner, Jennifer Goering told the Tribune.
The center is licensed to care for 14 kids in the afterschool program. “It’s a small program that would really give the kids that one on one attention with helping with homework,” and she says, “Our space is extra fun.”
Goering says the program can be particularly beneficial for families who have frequented Tot Spot and are transitioning kids into kindergarten. “To have the opportunity to at the end of the day instead of going somewhere else that’s unfamiliar, they would have the opportunity to go somewhere they’re comfortable with and they’ve already been playing and have fun at.”
Attending students can be added to the Lake Tahoe Unified School District route for drop off at Tot Spot.
The program’s hours will take place from 2-6 p.m. on school days.
Parents can call (530) 541-5994 for more information or stop by the center to pick up an enrollment packet.
