Information sought in blow-dart case
El Dorado County Animal Services was investigating the death of a small chickaree squirrel that was found with a dart in its head.
The animal was discovered when a resident’s cat brought it home in the Bijou Pines neighborhood late last month. Animal Services Lt. Robert Gerat said a 4-inch long dart from a blow gun went right through the animal’s head. Gerat said the shooting appeared to be intentional. He was not aware of any similar incidents recently at the South Shore.
Blow guns are illegal in California, he noted.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Animal Services at (530) 573-7925.
