The time of year marked by grass stains, helmets, beer and the inevitable trash talk you love to hate is back. That’s right — football season. The lack of a local team means it’s harder to get up close and personal with the sport, so where are the best places to watch besides the comfort of your couch? Consider some of these top local spots when deciding where to grab a drink and catch the first games of the season this weekend.

Brother’s Bar & Grill

Brother’s offers daily food and happy hour specials, and its patio is great for watching this weekend’s games — a 110-inch screen and outdoor projector make it a go-to location for all things sports. The patio also offers horseshoes, making it the ultimate game-time atmosphere.

Inside you’ll find nine flat screen TVs, which means you won’t miss a moment of the game.

Lakeside Inn and Casino

If you missed Thursday’s NFL kick-off party at Lakeside, don’t worry — between the three bars and two restaurants, there’s a place here to watch the start of the regular season with your friends.

The Tavern Bar offers over 10 draft beers in addition to classic game-time meals and snacks such as wings, tacos, nachos, fries and more. With plenty of 60-inch high definition screens, there’s a reason this bar was named one of the best spots to watch a game.

Turn 3 Sports Bar

The dive has called South Shore home since 1998, and is filled with TVs for watching sporting events of every kind.

“At Turn 3 we feel that your local sports bar should be like a community watering hole. When you’re at our bar, you’re a part of the Turn 3 family. We aim to provide the best possible service to make sure our customers are comfortable,” according to the sports bar’s Yelp biography.

Grab food from a nearby restaurant or bring your own from home, get a drink and settle in for Sunday’s kickoffs.

Classic Cue Sports Bar & Grille

This local bar and grille offers NFL football specials on Sundays that you won’t want to miss this weekend. Coupled with pool tables, foosball and multiple TV screens, NFL opening weekend at Classic Cue is one you won’t want to miss.

Steamers Bar & Grill

Known as the go-to spot for San Francisco Giants games, this isn’t a bad place to kick off the football season either.

Other Options

If you aren’t into the sports bar scene, restaurants such as Cold Water Brewery and Pizza Hut are sure to have the games on. Bring the kids, grab a meal and wear your jersey for maximum enjoyment.
