It’s hot, it’s August, it’s a car show

South Shore car enthusiasts, start your engines because it’s that time of year again.

Classic car buffs and vintage vehicles will be front and center for the 16th annual Hot August Nights in South Lake Tahoe and Reno.

On Sunday, Caesars Tahoe will host a kickoff party and Show-n-Shine from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring the official Hot August Nights DJ Johnny Starr.

The vintage car event, which spans over nine days, has grown in size and popularity over the years. The first event featured fewer than 200 cars. Since then it has grown to include 5,000 cars and an array of events from Reno to South Lake Tahoe and back.

Events include parties, show-n-shines, special cruises and big name entertainment front the past like Jan and Dean, Grass Roots lead vocalist Rob Grill and Three Dog Night.

Whether you love groovin’ to the tunes of Paul Revere and the Raiders, cruisin’ South Lake Tahoe Boulevard or just watching the parade go by, Hot August nights gives everyone a chance to relieve those wonderful days.

About 250,000 people, cars from 38 states and Canada and media representatives from five countries outside of the United states are expected during this 8-day event.
