IVGID floats Diamond Peak boat storage plan
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – The Incline Village General Improvement District met to review audit progress, discuss water quality and iron out details regarding possible boat parking at Diamond Peak Ski Resort over the summer.
Ahead of discussing agenda items, Trustee Mick Homan touched on the subcommitee meeting held on April 4 by the Commitee on Local Government Finance. Homan gave an update on audit progress, saying staff made “great progress” over the last month, bringing around 110 open items down to just two significant audit testing items left outstanding.
He added that their auditor said they are progressing closer towards issuing an unqualified opinion, which would be the best outcome for an audit evaluation. “We have requested another extension on the audit, but the state has told us they’re going to hold off on replying to that request until the full Committee on Local Governments and Finance meets at the end of the month,” he said.
Director of Public Works Kate Nelson followed that update by clarifying concerns over local water quality issues. She assured those listening that while some sewage systems may be ageing, they are still well maintained under the Utility Master Plan.
Boat storage plan set to launch
Diamond Peak General Manager Mike Bandelin also expanded on the possibility of using the resort for boat and trailer parking during the summer to reduce the number of boats parked in the streets in Incline. The plan was initially floated in December 2022, and the district is now moving forward with plans to implement a pilot boat parking program this summer.
“We have an unused asset during the summer months, and I think it’s an innovative and smart stewardship of that asset,” said Trustee Michelle Jezycki, who praised the plan along with others on the board.
2026 budget still in the works
A few days later on April 14, IVGID held an additional short Special Meeting to review the FY 2026 tentative budget, and approve new golf play pass options. Trustees elected not to make a motion but rather to continue discussing the draft budget, presented by Finance Director Jessica O’Connell, until all were closer to an agreement.
Regarding golf adjustments, trustees passed 4 – 1, with Tulloch voting against, a motion to offer additional play pass options, and a rate adjustment to the PM season pass. The changes are meant to counter a loss in revenue in recent years and attract more people to Incline Village golf courses.
IVGID’s next meeting is set to take place on April 22, with a meeting of the Audit Committee at 893 Southwood Blvd.
