Jazz singer Kevin Reed returns to play at Plan:b

Jazz singer Kevin Reed returns to Plan:b Micro Lounge, 318 N. Carson St., at 8 p.m. Jan. 21.

Reed, a Reno resident, is originally from San Francisco. He worked for more than 20 years as a jazz radio announcer in Northern California. This experience includes working at the legendary KJAZ in San Francisco.

He credited his parents with exposing him to all types of music and getting him into jazz.

Reed’s Jan. 21 performance is titled, “An evening of ‘Vocalese'” with the music of Thelonious Monk, Oscar Brown Jr., Miles Davis, Horace Silver and a special reading of Ken Nordine’s “World Jazz.”
