Rock-band Jefferson Starship is coming to Stateline this weekend, playing the South Shore Room at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Sunday.

A follow-up to iconic psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship has been rocking audiences worldwide since the early ‘70s. The name was first used on “Blows Against the Empire,” a 1970 concept album recorded by Jefferson Airplane member Paul Kantner with numerous guest musicians, including Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane.

The band has gone through numerous personnel changes over the years, reemerging in 1992 as Jefferson Starship — The Next Generation. The group has since continued touring and recording, although it dropped “The Next Generation” from its moniker shortly after reforming.

Jefferson Starship’s current lineup is Kantner (guitar, vocals), David Freiberg (vocals, guitar, bass, keys), Donny Baldwin (drums, vocals), Mark Aguilar (guitar), Chris Smith (keyboards, synthesizers) and Cathy Richardson (vocals, guitar, harmonica).
