Three young girls walked away with the junior titles of Miss Lake Tahoe at the Junior Miss Lake Tahoe Scholarship Pageant that took place Nov. 6. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was once again the host for the festivities. Three grade categories, Elementary, Junior High and High School, were each represented and each division received a title as well as a $200 scholarship bond. All other contestants were awarded a $50 scholarship bond.

The Junior Miss Lake Tahoe 2005 Elementary is Suzie Elias, daughter of Joan and Anthony Elias. An 8-year-old from Zephyr Cove Elementary School, Suzie performed a micro jazz dance to “Eyes in the Back of My Head” as her talent.

The Junior Miss Lake Tahoe 2005 Junior High is 12-year-old Riana Cerceo, daughter of Jeanie and Chris Cerceo. Riana, a Kingsbury Middle School student, performed a jazz dance to “Baby I’m a Star” for her talent.

The Junior Miss Lake Tahoe 2005 High School is Ashton Sunseri, daughter of Vicky and Paul Sunseri. Aston is a 14-year-old Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School student and her talent performance was a character dance to “Mama Italiano.”

This year, for the first time, additional $50 bond awards were funded by Colonial Bank’s Branch Sales Manager Amin Aminian, and were given in recognition of strong performances in talent and in interview.

Talent honorees were: Elementary division, Raquel Marchesseault, who did a hula-hoop routine; Alexis Arens, Junior High division, who performed a jazz dance; and High School division, Mary Kurek, who played the flute.

Interview honorees were: Elementary division, Sabrina Swoger; Junior High division, Marisa Eddy; and High School division, Kristy Morrow.

Other awards new this year were for “Most Tickets Sold” and for “Most Ads Sold.” The ticket award went to two girls in the High School division who were tied. Mary Kurek and Kristy Morrow were both awarded an additional $50 savings bond. Kjeleena Hansen in the Elementary division earned the ad award and with it a $50 savings bond.
