Kahle construction begins May 1

Construction on Phase 2 of the Kahle Park Community Center is set to begin May 1, and Douglas County officials are eager to move forward with the project.

“(The completed center) is going to provide great recreational opportunities for families, teens and seniors in the Tahoe Basin,” said Scott Morgan, director of Douglas County Parks and Recreation.

Additions from the project will include a gymnasium, track, expanded weight lifting/fitness facility, offices, locker room and outdoor rest rooms and a concession stand. The costs for expansion are estimated at $2 million, and the costs for the outdoor rest rooms are expected to be $200,000.

Officials hope Phase 2 will be completed by fall 2000.
