Tahoe’s famed blue lake and sky has added bluegrass.

A music and art festival, Lake Tahoe Bluegrass and Beyond, will be Aug. 27-28 at San Harbor Beach State Recreation Area, Lake Tahoe Action has learned.

Ryan Kronenberg of Pet Projekt Presents hopes to finalize the lineup Friday and to put tickets on sale next week. He said the likely headliners are Keller and the Keels. The trio Keller and the Keels are Keller Williams and Larry and Jenny Keel.

Banjo player Danny Barnes also would play Saturday, Aug. 27, and the following day it would be Keller and the Keels, Hot Buttered Rum, Buster Blue and Bison. More acts will be added. The festival on both nights will be from 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Pet Projekt Presents also has an impressive group of artists to play Aug. 9-10 in the Horizon Resort Casino, after the two outdoor Phish concerts.

The bands include the Travelin’ McCourys and the Emmitt-Nershi Band, which includes Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon, Billy Nershi of the String Cheese Incident and Johnny Grubb of Railroad Earth.

Another well-known artist will be announced after the Fourth of July High Sierra Festival.

Other artists who will perform at the Bluegrass Ball are the Dead Winter Carpenters, Bison, DJ Logic, DJ Grey Boy and Euforquestra.

The Tallac Brewery will be the site of two Pet Projekt Present shows this summer, one of them headlined by a British funk band.

Adient Zoo, Bison and Tick Talk Trio, along with the Willy Woggle Circus and Community Project will perform at 6 p.m. June fourth at the brewery on Eloise Ave. in South Lake Tahoe.

A giant stage will be installed at the site for a July 9 concert by the New Mastersounds.

Soundgarden and the Mars Volta have been added to the Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series, along with Sammy Hagar & the Wabos.

High profile rock bands, Soundgarden and the Mars Volta play at 7 p.m. July 20. Tickets go on sale June 10.

Sammy Hagar and the Wabos will close out the season on Sept. 10, John Packer, Harveys and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe director of entertainment, announced Wednesday at Lake Tahoe Action’s press time.

There are now 12 nights of music planned at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys, the first on June 18 with headliner Diana Krall.

Artists booked this week for Harrah’s Lake Tahoe’s South Shore Room include Keb Mo, Jonny Lang, Dave Mason and the Average White Band.
